Gainful occupations & attending school

From Statistical Atlas of the United States (1870)

This neat fabric swatch-y chart shows who was doing what in the U.S. in 1870 and provides insight into what kinds of occupations were considered "gainful" at the time. Granted, "pers. & profess. services" is excitingly vague.

All prints are on matte, archival, acid-free paper, and all framed prints are framed in satin black wooden frames.

We've done a little bit of cleanup to prepare the image for printing, but this is a faithful reproduction of the source material, and bears any scratches, smudges, or tears that were in the original. How charming!

Note: The botanical watercolors originals are on the smaller side, so we recommend 16 x 20" and below. While larger prints are fine from several feet away, you may notice pixellation when viewing them up-close.
