What were the "Principal Constituent Elements" of the states' populations in 1870? Bearing in mind that it was a different, pre-political-correctness time, they were apparently "the foreign," "the native colored," and "the native white population." We definitely̴Ì_don't use those categories or terms anymore (thank goodness), but this chart remains an informative relic of that era.

All prints are on matte, archival, acid-free paper, and all framed prints are framed in satin black wooden frames.
We've done a little bit of cleanup to prepare the image for printing, but this is a faithful reproduction of the source material, and bears any scratches, smudges, or tears that were in the original. How charming!
